Web Designer, May 2021 - May 2023

I worked in a team of 2-3 web designers who were in charge of any site changes for 3 sites under the ucf domain. Most projects were completed collaboratively, but I am showcasing the pages that I had the largest hand in designing/developing.

Pegasus Palooza

UCF's official welcome week has a micro-site dedicated to covering the events.

  • Pegasus Palooza gets a new theme and brand guidelines each year, but as a team, we noticed that the website had a dull template and we wanted to change this.
  • The team got on Figma, proposed a new, fresher design to our supervisors, and we got approved to develop the pages
  • This page was designed by myself, and was later programmed collaboratively in Wordpress.
  • According to Google Analytics, the site recieved more than 100% higher pageviews, about 12% higher time on page, and 160% more entrances after all our work was complete and sent to the public.

Knights of the Turntables Page

This page was requested to get a full redesign, and I was in charge of designing and developing it.

  • KOT used to have 4 pages dedicated to areas of their DJ business, all with little content on each page, so I decided it was best to turn it into a one-pager.
  • I designed sections that could easily be modified or removed if needed, and left clear documentation for future developers.
  • I utilized Bootstrap, HTML/CSS, and PHP to create this page.

Graphic Design

At one point in the semester, the office's dedicated graphic designers had too many requests to complete. I volunteered to take up tasks and create flyers.

While my job wasn't to create graphic designs, I did have a strong love for illustration, and I took this opportunity to take advantage of the Adobe Creative Suite, which the graphic designers had access to.

During this time, I practiced using Illustrator, and this ultimately led to me designing signage, and a mural for the campus. I'm very grateful to have been given the access to that technology, and take my art to larger, more permanent places.

Student Goverment (SG) Initiative Tracker

I creatively displayed the progress of the student initiatives for the given year.

  • I met with SG staff and proposed some options - such as using the 3 school colors as progress meters.
  • Students could follow the color key above, or read more details about initiatives by clicking on the titles.
  • This is a design that the current developers still use, although they changed text color of the yellow boxes to be white, which I disapprove of for accesiblity reasons, but it's in the new generation's hands now!

And now you're all caught up!
